Nikolas Tombazis becomes the aerodynamic director of Manor
Manor continues to strengthen its technical direction: former Ferrari engineer, Nikolas Tombazis, takes the helm of its aerodynamics department.
The Greek designer had been affected by the reorganization of the technical management that impacted the Scuderia at the end of the 2014 season. Thus, after nine years of collaboration, he was forced to leave Maranello.
He is therefore able to make his immediate return to the paddocks with Manor, under the leadership of technical director John McQuilliam. The latter can only be delighted with such a substantial addition: “I think this appointment will help strengthen the efforts of a very talented design team that, over the past few years, has not had the opportunity to demonstrate the full extent of its expertise and possibilities.”
If the arrival of the former Benetton, Ferrari, and McLaren employee will not impact the design of the car competing at the start of the season, it is an encouraging sign for the future of a team, which now has strong technical partners: « I am confident that with the Mercedes engine and the Williams gearbox, our new aerodynamic structure will provide us with the ability to design and develop competitive cars all the time to help us achieve our long-term ambitions. »
All that remains for the team is to name its two drivers for the upcoming season.
