Richard Mille signs for ten years with McLaren
Since Tag Heuer's departure to Red Bull, McLaren had been searching for a new partner in luxury watches. This has now been achieved through a ten-year partnership signed with the brand Richard Mille.
The Swiss watch brand is not an unknown entity in the world of motorsports and Formula 1 in particular. Indeed, it has been a partner for many years with ART Grand Prix and a personal sponsor of Felipe Massa. In 2013, it also became a sponsor of Lotus.
With the change of ownership at Enstone and the vacancy at Woking, the two companies have thus been able to collaborate, as explained by the founder of the eponymous brand: The opportunity to partner with McLaren comes at a perfect time: we have been evaluating Formula 1 in a limited way for several years, but this opportunity has allowed us to engage more significantly, with focus and efforts towards a major team.
For once, the duration of the partnership has been announced, and it is not common in the constantly evolving world of F1. Indeed, Richard Mille will be visible at McLaren over the next ten seasons. This can only align with Ron Dennis’s vision, who has always sought to establish long-term partnerships, ensuring a stable revenue base and allowing the partnership to grow over time. Richard Mille’s ten-year commitment to McLaren underscores our shared belief in the value of long-term agreements and the benefits that can be achieved by growing together.
Nevertheless, if the commitment is long-term, the brand’s exposure will still be lower than that of Lotus because the size of its logo on the front is much smaller. Its presence on the suits of Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso will also be limited to the upper shoulders.
But this partnership will still allow the creation of a common range of products to be marketed.
