Charles Leclerc and Giuliano Alesi join the Ferrari Driver Academy
The Ferrari training academy will once again take on a French accent in 2016: the Monegasque Charles Leclerc and the Frenchman Giuliano Alesi are joining the Ferrari Driver Academy.
Charles Leclerc emerges from a season full of promise in European Formula 3. While he largely dominated the start of the season, he then had to bow to the Prema armada and Felix Rosenqvist to ultimately finish 4th in the championship.
In 2016, he will be one of the main contenders for the title in GP3 as he joins ART Grand Prix, taking the place of the reigning champion, Esteban Ocon. Nicolas Todt’s protégé within All Road Management will have a tough challenge ahead facing his teammate Nyck de Vries, who has been supported by McLaren for many seasons.
He will also find Giuliano Alesi on his path. The son of former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi will also be part of the GP3 championship but with the Italian team Trident. The French driver was a member of the Auto Sport Academy last year, where he also finished fourth in the championship.
