John Booth appointed Toro Rosso Competition Director

When we parted ways in Abu Dhabi, John Booth had left us with an enigmatic: “We will be back one way or another.” The man keeps his word and took only six months to honor this statement.

Toro Rosso announced that John Booth would be their new director of competition, under the orders of Franz Tost: « I have known John for many years and I am delighted to welcome him to the team. Formula 1 is becoming increasingly complex, with recent changes in tires, car settings, radio communications, etc… Therefore, it is not enough to have a competitive car and talented drivers, which we already have. With his vast experience, I am sure that John will help the team raise its game and make it more efficient during a race weekend. »

The Briton will therefore focus his services on operational tasks during the weekends, starting with Sochi, which explains why he will have a consultant status. Meanwhile, he will maintain his role within Manor, which he now leads in WEC, in the LMP2 category.
