Thomas Mayer becomes CEO of Manor

Since the acquisition of Manor last year, Stephen Fitzpatrick has been keen to shape the small team to his liking, appointing new leaders over time, to the detriment of the long-standing John Booth and Graeme Lowdon.

The team’s shareholder has just announced a new CEO, Thomas Mayer. He has been responsible for Renault’s operations since 2012 and therefore has solid experience in Formula 1, which was sought after by Stephen Fitzpatrick: « Thomas will bring people together and help us clearly accelerate our improvements. He arrives with extensive experience in managing an F1 team as well as strong engineering knowledge. He shares our passion for success and the challenger spirit. I am delighted that he has agreed to join the team to implement our longer-term strategy. »

By joining his new team, the MIT business school graduate will thus have newly recruited directors under his command, such as Simon Pavitt as marketing director, Nikolas Tombazis heading the aerodynamics department, and Dave Ryan, who is now the competition director. He will therefore be responsible for orchestrating these different elements to elevate the team.

The future of the team has significantly improved when Pascal Wehrlein managed to score a valuable point at the last Austrian Grand Prix, allowing him to move ahead of Sauber.
