Xevi Pujolar bounces back with Sauber
Pushed out of Toro Rosso last May, Xevi Pujolar wasted no time in finding a new opportunity. He is now Head of Engineering at Sauber, and will take up his duties in Singapore.
The engineer’s absence from the F1 paddocks lasted only four short months, between his dismissal from Toro Rosso following the Russian Grand Prix and his return to Sauber.
This position of chief race engineer was temporarily filled by Paul Russell. He will therefore return to his previous position as head of performance integration.
The arrival of an experienced man like the Spaniard is a sign of the investments that the team’s new shareholder is making for the team’s recovery. The team must thus try to catch up with Manor before the end of the season, to avoid finishing in eleventh place in the Constructors’ Championship and the related financial consequences.
