Romain Grosjean puts Haas provisionally in the top 10
Haas benefited from the first day with Romain Grosjean in the top 10 in both sessions, which is promising for the rest of the weekend.
If Haas has not scored points since Austria, the Italian Grand Prix could be good news for the American team. Thus, Romain Grosjean was able to rank in the top 10 both in the morning and the afternoon, even reaching 6th place during the morning session. He therefore felt comfortable right away, as he confirmed to us in the Monza paddock: « The car is not bad, it’s fine. Since this morning, I felt very comfortable. »
For the second session, more or less successful experiments were carried out, finishing 9th in the session: « This afternoon, we changed a few small settings, not necessarily always in the right direction. Overall, I am quite happy. »
The two drivers can thus rely on very good top speed, which allows them to stand out from the competition on a high-speed circuit like Monza. An important element remains, of course, the management of Pirelli tires, as explained by Esteban Gutierrez, who was a bit further back with the 14th best time in the afternoon: « We completed our program by working a lot on understanding the functioning of the tires because here we need a lot of traction, and it is directly impacted by the tire temperature. We are doing our best to maximize traction without compromising the overall balance of the car. »
A first Q3 this season thus seems like an achievable goal for the rookie team.
