Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari content with a podium finish in front of the tifosi

For his second Italian Grand Prix as a Ferrari driver, Sebastian Vettel climbed onto his second podium. A chance to take another crowd bath and rejoice in seeing the passion of the tifosi: « I think it was a great day for Ferrari. Having so much support. I feel like it was even stronger than last year. Hopefully, it will be even better next year. I can’t complain: two podiums at Monza starting twice with Ferrari. I think it’s a great achievement. I am very happy and proud of it. »

However, the Ferrari driver can only be satisfied with having no problems with his car since he was never able to threaten the Mercedes or even prevent Lewis Hamilton’s comeback: « We did our best. It’s a perfect result for us, the whole weekend went well. We had no issues with the car. We introduced a new engine upgrade. So thanks to all the guys at Maranello for their support. »

The Ferrari race resembled a duel between the two Ferraris as they were too far from the Mercedes but not threatened by Williams or Red Bull. Kimi Räikkönen almost capitalized on Sebastian Vettel’s poor first pit stop to overtake him but did not take any risks at the first braking: « With Sebastian, we generally drove one behind the other. When you’re fighting with your teammate, there’s not much you can do. We both know what the other is going to do. After the start, it was a bit complicated. I was very close after the first stop but he was able to pull away. »

On the Maranello side, it will be remembered that the last victory was in Singapore, which is the next stop for the Formula One Circus.
