The crazy rumor of Daniil Kvyat’s replacement in Singapore

Daniil Kvyat is currently going through a rough patch since his replacement at Toro Rosso, while on the contrary, Pierre Gasly is racking up victories in GP2. Enough to give some people ideas who are craving sensational news.

Thus, shortly before the start of the Italian Grand Prix, it appeared on social media that the French driver allegedly stated to a Spanish television network that he would be driving the Toro Rosso from the Singapore Grand Prix onwards. Without directly contacting the driver, many media outlets simply retweeted the matter, which gained increasing momentum.

Yet only a few hours earlier, at the end of his Sprint race, Red Bull’s protégé clearly indicated to an AFP colleague that his main goal for this year was to win the GP2 title, in order to maximize his chances of securing a Toro Rosso seat next year: « If I want to put all the odds in my favor, I need to win the championship. The only thing I can do is give my best, show that I am fast on track and that I am mature enough to move to F1. After that, I really hope Red Bull will give me my chance. »

Knowing how authoritative Helmut Markko is, it seems very unlikely that the driver would have let himself be put in a position of fait accompli. That’s why the Frenchman insisted on letting it be known to as many people as possible that he never uttered the words attributed to him.

Now remains to hope for him that the fire can be controlled and that it does not harm him while many young drivers have gone through the Red Bull program, only to be ejected without necessarily ever making it to F1.
