Antonio Spagnolo leaves Ferrari for Williams
In order not to lose competitiveness, Williams has decided to strengthen its team by bringing in Antonio Spagnolo from Ferrari, who will be in charge of analyzing the competition.
Williams is currently in a fierce battle with Sahara Force India to retain its fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship after having finished third in the past two seasons.
The trend is therefore not the most favorable, and the team intends to straighten things out. One way to beat the competition is to know it very well, as acknowledged by Pat Symonds, the team director: « Williams is determined to continue the positive momentum it has had since 2014. With new reinforcements, it hopes to be even stronger. We are constantly looking for new ways to improve on the track and in our operations. »
This is where the most recent recruitment for the Grove team, Antonio Spagnolo, comes into play. The former race engineer for Kimi Räikkönen at Ferrari will have the specific mission of conducting competitor analysis and identifying areas for improvement for the team.
Another aspect of the Italian’s contribution will also be to share his expertise in the management and operation of tires, as he held this position during the 2015 season with the Scuderia, before taking a six-month leave between his two posts.
