Esteban Gutierrez expects a response from Haas within two weeks

Last year, Haas waited until the Mexico weekend to officially announce Esteban Gutierrez’s arrival for the season. But a year later, the American team did not organize a special press conference to confirm the continuation of its driver, which can only fuel speculation about his future as he has yet to score a single point this season.

Present at the FIA press conference, the local participant revealed that he was still waiting for news from his employer: « I think Gene has been very clear in the media. They want to wait a few more races. »

But that doesn’t stop him from studying other alternatives to avoid being left without a seat, especially since the transfer market has rarely been so open: « Fortunately, we have other options that we are seriously considering. I think it’s important for us to make a decision quickly because we can’t take the risk of waiting a few more races until the end of the season and risk ending up in limbo. »

Among these different options, there is the remaining seat at Sahara Force India, alongside his compatriot Sergio Perez, but also the one at Renault, or even with his former team Sauber if one of the two drivers were to join another team. He can indeed leverage the unconditional support of his long-time partners, Claro and Telmex.

The time for the decision is therefore almost upon the young driver as he sets the deadline for the next Grand Prix in Brazil: « This deadline should be within the next two weeks. »
