Vandoorne will be penalized in Monaco for his collision with Massa
Stoffel Vandoorne will drop three places on the Monaco Grand Prix grid. The race stewards found him at fault in the 33rd-lap collision with Massa.
Stoffel Vandoorne’s weekend went from bad to worse. Rather confident after a good day on Friday, the Belgian was overshadowed by his teammate Fernando Alonso, who came back from nowhere in qualifying.
Sentenced to start last after an engine change, Vandoorne wanted to make up for his delay in a questionable maneuver in the first corner of the 33rd lap, on Felipe Massa.
The McLaren driver took the corner without worrying about the presence of the Williams on the inside. Right front suspension bent, Vandoorne had to abandon a race to quickly forget for him.
Obviously, he was found guilty of this maneuver and will receive a three-place grid penalty for the Monaco Grand Prix in fifteen days.
