First two Haas in the points at Monaco

This had never happened before: two Haas cars finished in the points at the Monaco Grand Prix. Last year, Romain Grosjean scored 100% of the points for the rookie team.

For the Frenchman, the essential was secured yesterday with a beautiful 8th place during the qualifications. While he initially benefited from Sergio Perez’s front wing problems to gain a position, he couldn’t cope with the comeback of Lewis Hamilton, on an alternate strategy: « Lewis had clean air and managed to overtake us during the pit stops. »

But for him, the essential thing was that the team was able to score points with both cars: « It’s great to have two cars in the points. We managed to avoid problems and I drove as fast as possible. There is a lot to analyze and understand, but we are growing as a team. »

If Kevin Magnussen could be pleased to finish in the points, he experienced a race far from straightforward. Starting 11th, he benefited from Nico Hülkenberg’s retirement to climb into the points. But his race was then compromised by a puncture: « Personally, it was a disappointing race for me. I had a puncture, but it’s really great for the team to finish in the points with both cars. They really deserve it. »

Truly, the Dane feels that bad luck doesn’t want to leave him. He believes he could have done better without this setback: « I feel like I’m experiencing the unluckiest season of my life. Today, we have both cars in the points and I am proud of the team. »

He was able to take advantage of Stoffel Vandoorne’s off-track excursion, and then the collision between Daniil Kvyat and Sergio Perez to ultimately climb into the points: « It’s Monaco and a lot of things can happen. There is no reason to give up. You have to keep pushing and that’s what I did. »
