Amber Lounge celebrated its 15th anniversary in Monaco
The first Amber Lounge was held in 2003. The 15th edition of this event was an opportunity to take stock of the evolution of this organization and its development plans for the future.
Amber Lounge is a symbol of F1 exclusivity. It is simply the most glamorous event of the weekend, especially in the prestigious setting of Monaco. It was in the Principality that this initiative by Sonia Irvine was born. The sister and physiotherapist of Ferrari driver Eddie Irvine came up with the idea of creating an event where the entire F1 community could gather to party together, once all the stress of the race was relieved.
Today, this organization is repeated four times a year, as it is also found in Singapore, Mexico, and Abu Dhabi, in addition to Monaco. In the past, it could also be found in other cities like Barcelona or Austin.
But more than just a single evening, it’s an entire weekend of exclusivity that is now offered. On Friday, the traditional rest day for drivers in Monaco, the famous drivers’ fashion show is organized to highlight a charitable association. This year, it was Sir Jackie Stewart’s Race against Dementia that was honored.
Amber Lounge also takes advantage of the prestigious setting of the Monaco marina to offer an exclusive experience, namely watching the qualifications from its own yacht, before hosting a new festive evening. The highlight of the event comes on Sunday with the After GP Party, where many drivers gather for a night of celebration. This also allows for a team-building exercise between the drivers and their mechanics, who have been put to the test over the weekend.
However, Sonia Irvine’s company does not stop at F1 and looks beyond. Therefore, since last summer, she has launched a new initiative with Le Méridien in Monaco, where all the festivities take place during the weekend, called Amber Summer. It offers a new experience, whether coming up from the beach and starting the evening or even having breakfast in the early hours of the morning.
This first excursion outside its original environment will certainly lead to others since the market aimed at high-income individuals is consistently growing worldwide. Amber Lounge intends to offer them increasingly exclusive experiences in an ever-wider variety of environments.
