Force India: Ocon finishes ahead of Pérez at Silverstone

The consistency is the key word announced by the Force India team since the beginning of the season. It must be acknowledged that the Indian team is keeping its promise to score points in every race, with the exception of the Monaco Grand Prix.

For the second time this year after Baku, it’s Esteban Ocon who finishes ahead of his teammate. The start was the key moment of the Frenchman’s race: I had a brilliant start, as if I had four-wheel drive and gained a few positions, but I lost one to Hülkenberg at the end of the first lap. After that, I had a good battle with my teammate for most of the afternoon and the team let us race, just like in Canada. Sergio was fast and putting pressure on me, but I managed to stay ahead of him.

A little jab directed at his best enemy who experienced a frustrating race stuck behind the Frenchman after a rather average start: « It was a difficult race and I feel like we didn’t manage to show our true pace. We should have finished higher, but in the end, we still bring home points with both cars. I had a bad start and that compromised the rest of the afternoon because I couldn’t recover. Silverstone is one of the toughest tracks to overtake, and even though I spent my entire race in Esteban’s DRS zone, I never had the chance to pass him. » analyzes Pérez.

A race, the only one he can attend this season, which in any case delighted Vijay Mallya, the team owner: « It’s very satisfying to see both our cars finish in the points at our home race. We have added six important points to our tally and reinforced our fourth place in the championship. Maintaining this consistency is important, and as we reach the mid-season, I am very proud of what we have achieved in the first ten races. I have the same hope for the rest of the season and we will continue to develop the VJM10. »

A positive weekend, therefore, which ended with a meal at Mallya’s where Sergio Pérez was strangely absent from the family photo…
