Tommy Hilfiger becomes a sponsor of Mercedes
Mercedes announced the arrival of a new sponsor, Tommy Hilfiger, replacing Hugo Boss.
Nature abhors a vacuum, and this is even more true in F1. After Mercedes lost the support of Hugo Boss at the end of last season, the world champion team has just announced that it has found a new clothing partner, namely Tommy Hilfiger.
The American clothing brand has a long history in F1 as it was a partner of the Lotus team between 1991 and 1994. But it was in 1998 that the brand took a significant step as it became a sponsor of Ferrari and participated in designing the suits worn by Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine. In terms of placement on the car, the brand’s logo is located in close proximity to the drivers’ heads, corresponding to the space previously used by Hugo Boss.
The photos and video released by the team also help to unveil the famous secret test that Lewis Hamilton had revealed last October, which he had done on an oval in the United States. He had quickly pointed out that it had not convinced him to follow in the footsteps of his former teammate, Fernando Alonso, who had participated in the Indianapolis 500 miles.
