Lewis Hamilton named ambassador of Tommy Hilfiger

Last month, when Mercedes announced that it had signed an agreement with Tommy Hilfiger to become the new clothing sponsor, replacing Hugo Boss, many observers noted that this agreement was perfectly in line with Lewis Hamilton’s aspirations. Indeed, he already spends many evenings at fashion shows around the world, notably with his friend Neymar.

The two partner companies have perfectly understood this and have even capitalized on the complementarity between the two team drivers, as Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have very different personalities. Thus, during the first official photos, the Finn sported a modest polo from the brand while the Briton was dressed in a bright yellow hoodie.

An additional step has now been taken as the brand becomes a personal sponsor of Lewis Hamilton, who will now be one of its ambassadors. The agreement stipulates that the driver will appear with the brand’s products, whether its urban clothing range, suits, or swimwear.

This will allow the driver to establish a delicate balance of communications between his different personal sponsors, as we can imagine him being in a Tommy Hilfiger swimsuit on a Skidoo jetski, another of his backers. However, this new agreement certainly means that the promotion of Puma will be limited to his outfit when he trains physically and not for his lifestyle outings, as this would conflict with his new agreement.
