Sauber recruits Jan Monchaux from Audi
Sauber continues its rebuilding with the recruitment of Jan Monchaux as the director of aerodynamics.
Sauber is one of the main beneficiaries of the change in priorities within the Volkswagen group, with the discontinuation of Audi and Porsche’s WEC programs to focus on Formula E.
This has led to the departure of many engineers, and Sauber is in an ideal position to recover them. Indeed, the Swiss team is located relatively close to the German group’s facilities. But more importantly, it has carried out numerous aerodynamic development projects for the various subsidiaries of the group, which ensured its survival before the purchase by Longbow Finance.
The arrival of Jan Monchaux as director of aerodynamics is part of this transfer of skills since he was the director of engineering and aerodynamics at Audi Sport for five years. He had previously gained experience at Toyota Motorsport and Scuderia Ferrari.
Jörg Zander, the team’s technical director, is therefore delighted with the arrival of a heavyweight in the industry to his team: This constitutes an important step in a larger project that seeks to strengthen the Alfa Romeo Sauber team and bring it back in line with the objectives and results we want to achieve on track.
