Monaco will have its grid girls and new stands

Monaco is a unique event in every respect on the F1 calendar. Due to the enormous logistical costs associated with setting up the circuit in the heart of the city and the prestige linked to its history, Monaco is the only event of the season that does not pay fees to the FOM for organizing its Grand Prix.

She also has a contract that allows her not to have to show the FOM sponsors, which enables her to negotiate directly with sponsors. This is how Tag Heuer enjoys significant visibility around the circuit, even though the official watchmaker of F1 is its direct competitor Rolex.

His status also allows him to set his own rules and thus not comply with the withdrawal decreed by Liberty Media of grid girls. Michel Boeri, the director of the Automobile Club of Monaco, confirmed to our colleagues from Nice Matin that they would still be present: « Our American friends have deemed that employing young women to hold a sign contributed to diminishing the female condition. Our hostesses come from modeling and communication schools. They do internships during the Grand Prix as part of their studies, and they are paid. We demand exemplary behavior from them. They are elegant and reflect the image of Monaco. The girls will be there, without signs, of course, but as communication hostesses. »

Moreover, this 2018 edition will also be an opportunity to see changes in the pit lane as brand new buildings will be constructed. Although the ground area remains the same due to space constraints, they will gain a new floor. These stands have the same look as the race control, which will have the best aesthetic effect. And within the teams, to whom we have submitted the specifications, everyone seems happy.

The race through the streets of Monaco will be the first of the season to be broadcast free-to-air on TF1. The channel also revealed its full broadcast plan: in addition to Monaco and the already announced French Grand Prix, the races at Spa-Francorchamps and Monza will also be available. Former F1 driver Jean-Eric Vergne will be one of the commentators behind the microphone, as he did last year on C8.
