HPE will bring its technology to Mercedes
Mercedes has decided to partner with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, HPE, which will provide both hardware and consulting during the upcoming seasons.
In Formula 1, every element is essential and subject to optimization. The latest example is the screen placed in front of the drivers when they are in their garage during a session.
Until last year, it was just a simple flat screen. But the arrival of the Halo changed the situation, and it was no longer possible or practical to have such a screen, with the support of this safety element that could obstruct the drivers’ view.
That is why we have seen teams gradually arrive with elements incorporating this new constraint, which now feature two separate screens connected by the same frame.
In Montreal, we also noticed that Mercedes now displayed the Hewlett Packard Enterprise logo. As a result of the split between the range of products for personal use, grouped under the name HP, and those for professional use, HPE provides both high-capacity computing computers and also serves as consultants to their clients to maximize the added value of data generated by the computations of their machines.
Jim Jackson, the marketing director of MPE, explains why the American company decided to partner with Mercedes: « Our sponsorship of Mercedes AMG Petronas aims to provide them with the power of the best technology and the best services in the world to a team with a long tradition of innovation to fuel performance at the highest level. »
However, the Brackley team is not the only one to benefit from HPE’s expertise, as an agreement has been in place for several years with Red Bull, while one of its supercomputers has also been added in Hinwil, at Sauber’s headquarters.
This time, however, it translates into some visibility since the HPE logo has also appeared on the suits of the drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.
