Barcelona Testing – Day 2: Perez Leads at Midday

Just like the first day, the sun is out in Barcelona. It’s not very warm at 9 AM, but the track reaches 14 degrees. And like yesterday, the teams have a busy schedule.

Lewis Hamilton was the most enduring in terms of laps until 1 p.m. He has already completed 106 laps, nearly two races. He notably tested a new mobile steering system allowing for the modification of the front axle.

Romain Grosjean was also particularly efficient with 87 laps to his tally, completing relatively short stints (5 laps) and a longer one of 17 laps.

Daniel Ricciardo was particularly present in his garage this morning, but the RS20 remained stationary between two stints for about thirty minutes. Probably a small repair or a major adjustment to be made.

In the standings, Sergio Pérez is in the lead with 1:17.347, four tenths better than Ricciardo’s Renault. With Norris, currently last in the standings, they are the only three drivers to have driven fewer than 50 laps.

Results at 1 pm on Day 2 of Barcelona winter testing:
