Luca de Meo announces the new directors for the Renault Group
While Renault is undergoing restructuring and its new director Luca de Meo is still deliberating, major decisions have already been announced regarding the future of the group, particularly Alpine.
Luca de Meo arrived at the head of Renault not long ago, and his first few months have been dedicated to analyzing the different brands of the Renault group. He was notably present at the Spanish Grand Prix a few weeks ago to see how the Formula 1 team managed by Cyril Abiteboul operated.
In a press release today, Renault announces that the group is restructuring into four main entities: Renault, Dacia, Alpine, and a yet-to-be-named brand focused on new mobility solutions such as car-sharing.
« The company needs to change its ‘game model’ and move from seeking volume to seeking value and profitability. Organizing around four strong brands and major cross-functional areas would allow for working more simply, with a focus on markets and customers, fostering a team spirit, to achieve the best possible result. It is an essential lever for the Group’s recovery, » stated Luca de Meo, CEO of Groupe Renault in a press release.
The Renault Sport brand could gradually make way for Alpine, but no information is available about the actual evolution of Renault Sport. For now, it’s only about reducing the number of names within the group. The statement does not specify the future of Renault Samsung Motors or Lada.
Luca de Meo will therefore take over the leadership of Renault, and it is already known that Denis le Vot will take over the leadership of Dacia.
Cyril Abiteboul, director of the Renault F1 team, takes over the leadership of Alpine, replacing Patrick Marinoff who was recently hired to lead the brand after coming from the Daimler group. His future has not yet been specified.
Finally, regarding the New Mobilities (brand to be defined), it is Clotilde Delbos, the current deputy CEO and CFO of the Group, who is taking the helm.
