Cybersecurity players step up their presence in Formula 1
At a time when cybersecurity is a major issue in today's security world, more and more cybersecurity players are partnering Formula 1 teams. This is particularly true of Acronis and SentinelOne.
The data generated by Formula 1 cars through various sensors is a very important means to understand and progress at the moment. Beyond being used on cars during a Grand Prix to ensure the proper functioning of the entire single-seater, it is also a way to advance cars in wind tunnels or completely digitally during 3D rendering simulations.
The pilot’s feeling is important. But data is just as important today and serves as the basis of communication between pilots, engineers, or mechanics. It is therefore essential that this information be protected and kept safe from the eyes of competitors. Losing your data would be like giving up your season. That’s why in recent years, sponsors and partnerships in the field of cybersecurity have become commonplace.
Williams extends its partnership with Acronis
Williams announced in a statement the extension of a partnership with Acronis, a company specializing in protection against digital attacks. The company notably allows to block attempted theft or encryption of data attacks in order to avoid having to pay a ransom, as is increasingly seen in the media.
Partners since 2018 for the supply of databases and secure storage, it is only since 2020 that Acronis has also been involved in protection against cyber attacks.
The brand actively focuses on motorsports to ensure its promotion, as it was associated with AlphaTauri in the past before also getting involved in WEC, through a partnership with Toyota.
Aston Martin F1 becomes a partner with SentinelOne.
SentinelOne, just like Acronis, is a major player in the cybersecurity tool solution. In fact, in 2018, Acronis was associated with the team then called Force India. Already a partner of the parent company, Aston Martin Lagonda, SentinelOne also becomes a partner of Aston Martin F1 to protect data and fight against cyber attacks.
Note that Lawrence Stroll, director of the team formerly known as Racing Point, has also acquired shares as a shareholder of SentinelOne. We can also mention Kaspersky, a long-time sponsor of Ferrari and present in the antivirus market.
Crowdstrike is displayed at Mercedes.
It can also be noted that Mercedes also has its own partner in the field, with the Californian company Crowdstrike. The latter appeared on the rear wing and the drivers’ suits of the team last year.
