Last-minute resurfacing of Imola track
On Wednesday, just two days before the start of the first practice session of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, resurfacing work on the pit lane was underway at the Imola track.
Indeed, the F1 analyst Albert Fabrega recently posted a Tweet showing the work in progress on the pit lane.
Trabajos de reasfaltado en la entrada del pitlane. Sí, es miércoles ya. Un poco tarde vamos ehhh…

We remember that the last time we were faced with this kind of situation was at the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix, and the results were chaotic. On this occasion, the entire track had been resurfaced a few tens of days earlier, leaving it like a real ice rink, with the drivers going off track one after the other. The organization of the GP even went so far as to ask 5 touring cars to drive laps to increase the grip of the track.
However, only the pit lane is being resurfaced for this 2021 Imola Grand Prix. However, the time frame between these works and the first free practice session is very short or even non-existent. It remains to be seen whether this renovation will bring only its beneficial aspects or whether it will be a repeat of what happened in Turkey in 2020.
