F1 drivers boycott social networks: Enough is enough!
Social networks are a place where everyone can express their opinions freely. However, the anonymity that people can enjoy on the web gives way to disrespectful, hateful and even racist behavior. F1 drivers are speaking out against such behavior, and denouncing the apathy of social network managers.
Hateful or even racist comments circulate freely on various social networks, not always being controlled by the moderators of these sites. Lewis Hamilton spoke about this before the start of this Grand Prix weekend in Portimao, regarding the too passive regulation of messages on these platforms: “I think that social media companies need to do more. There are algorithms, there are things they are able to see, they are able to take action to help and create a more anti-racist society. That’s what we need to strive for.”
As a result, the seven-time world champion has decided to boycott social media for this weekend, to show that he is distancing himself from the movements he can see on these platforms. He is not the only Briton to take part in this movement, indeed the young McLaren driver, Lando Norris, who was a great fan of social media, we can recall the many Twitch live streams he was doing on various racing simulations. He has therefore posted this Tweet today:

Too much is too much. These are the strong words of Lando Norris, showing his frustration towards the lack of civility that can be found on various social media platforms and pointing the finger at their leaders who do not seem to increase their efforts to moderate anti-social behaviors.
