Monaco Grand Prix – Unfortunate retirement for Bottas

After Charles Leclerc’s retirement even before the start of the race, Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas was forced to retire at the end of his first relay. A problem with the gun and the front right wheel forced the second Mercedes driver to retire while he was in second place and could possibly have gone for victory in the Principality.

After this unfortunate incident, the Mercedes driver spoke in the paddock about his early retirement.

« I don’t know what happened. All I know is that they couldn’t remove the front right wheel, but I don’t know why. We lost so many points today (editor’s note: Sunday). Of course, as a team, we need to learn from this day,” declared Bottas.

When asked if victory was achievable this Sunday, the Finnish driver believed in his chances and the potential of his car.

« I think we could have gone for the win even if the Red Bulls were very fast. But second place was almost guaranteed. Maybe we could have offered a challenge for the win to Verstappen, but not this time.
