Turkish Grand Prix – Can Leclerc win the race?
Charles Leclerc will start from third place in the Turkish Grand Prix. Can the Monegasque stay close to the leaders during the race and secure another podium finish?
The Ferrari driver shows good speed throughout the weekend. Leclerc finished both Friday sessions with a minimal gap compared to the two championship leaders, losing 0.476 seconds in the morning and only 0.166 seconds in the afternoon. Both times, he was in the Top 3. Leclerc’s speed in qualifying was slightly hindered by the still damp track. An aggressive mistake on a quick lap in Q3 was decisive in many ways.
Following the simulation carried out by the team, if we add up all the best sectors of the Monegasque driver on a dry track, then the gap to Hamilton will be only 0.04 seconds. Ferrari’s great performance would be due to the efficient functioning of the SF21 chassis on this track and furthermore, the new engine received in Sochi allows the driver to feel comfortable.
If the weather does not hold any surprises, the Monegasque then has every chance of staying close to the leaders on Sunday and why not clinching his second podium of the season.
