Mattia Binotto will miss the Mexican and Brazilian Grand Prix

Binotto will not attend the next two races in order to prioritize the preparation work for 2022, in Maranello. He confirmed this to the Corriere Della Sera. “I will also miss the Mexico Grand Prix and the Brazil Grand Prix because we are in a key phase of the 2022 project.”

Just like in Istanbul a few days ago, it is Laurent Mekies, the team’s sporting director, who will replace Binotto. The head of the Italian team had already missed a few races at the end of last season to focus fully on the current SF21, which has already allowed the Scuderia to bring back more than 100 additional points compared to 2020, with six races remaining.

The development for next season is shaping up to be crucial and there is no doubt that all the teams have almost (if not completely) written off their current cars. Ferrari hopes to bring back a driver’s title that has been eluding Maranello for fourteen years already (fifteen for the constructors’ title). It was in 2007 with Kimi Räikkönen.
