The Alpine drivers are happy to come back to Brazil
After a difficult Mexican Grand Prix that still saw Alpine score two points, the French team hopes to conclude the American tour in the best possible way in Brazil.
After getting back on track with the points, Fernando Alonso hopes to continue this positive momentum (although Alpine struggled overall in Mexico) in Brazil. According to him, an unpredictable race could play in favor of his team.
« It is a very physically demanding circuit, it is bumpy, again at high altitude, and the weather
It can be very unpredictable. There are always twists and turns in Brazil and we need to be prepared, but it makes the weekend exciting as anything can happen. We have seen many spectacular races this year and we expect it to be the case again.
The Spaniard remembers his world titles, both won in Brazil, and particularly the second. This obviously brings back excellent memories and I don’t have the impression that it was fifteen years ago already (it was in 2006). We had a strong package that year, but the Ferraris were very fast and consistent when it came to the final sprint. But we had a good race finishing in second position and it was enough to be crowned. We didn’t want to take any risks! It was an incredible feeling and it was really special to see our whole team celebrating after such an intense struggle throughout the season.
Esteban Ocon is also happy to be back on the São Polo circuit but does not have only good memories unlike his illustrious teammate.
« I have always loved driving in Brazil, even though I haven’t been there for a few years.
Years. The atmosphere is very special with passionate F1 fans and you can feel all the legacy left by Ayrton Senna. The lap is short and quite fast. The weather
Brazilian can also reserve some surprises to which we must adapt. We will also have the Sprint Qualifying and it is a track where overtaking is possible. So we will see what we can do this weekend. Even if I like racing there, my Formula 1 results do not really reflect it, so I hope I can score my first points in Brazil and get back into the top ten after missing out in the last two races.
Alpine reacts in the last four Grand Prix of the season to fend off AlphaTauri’s attacks, who are aiming for fifth place in the constructors’ standings. Red Bull’s sister team has drawn level on points with Alpine (106 each).
