Ferrari will be looking into Carlos Sainz’s future

After his first classes in Formula 1 with Toro Rosso (from 2015 to 2017), who would have imagined, one day, Carlos Sainz at the wheel of a Ferrari?

However, it is a risk that the Spaniard managed brilliantly. A great contributor to Ferrari’s third place in the constructors’ championship, he ultimately outperformed Leclerc in terms of results and achieved four impressive podium finishes.

Beyond the numbers, Sainz has evolved tremendously since his beginnings. Discreet, he is a reliable driver who, in addition, provides good technical feedback according to the team.

His boss, Mattia Binotto, is in any case satisfied with his new recruit: “I think Carlos had an excellent season,” he declared to Motorsport. “When we signed this contract a year ago, we said that this winter, so this winter, would be the right time to discuss and evaluate the season. It’s something we will certainly do during this period. There will definitely be a comprehensive review, both of the season itself, and we will start discussing what our future could be.”

When we hired Carlos, the goal was to have two good drivers who are good racers, consistent and capable of scoring points for the team. I think that’s what we got this season.

The homogeneous duo formed by Leclerc and Sainz will certainly weigh in on the decision regarding a possible contract extension for number 55.

“I am very proud of these two drivers,” continued Binotto. “As I have often said, we have the best lineup in Formula 1, and I am quite happy with what Carlos has done this season. As it was his first year with Ferrari, it was not easy. We signed him because we believed he was a good racer, consistent, always scoring good points. But I also think he is capable of learning. Throughout the season, he has improved, and I believe the end of the campaign is his best part of the whole year,” he concluded.

According to the latest rumors, Carlos Sainz could be extended until 2024, despite the presence of Mick Schumacher in the vicinity, who seems destined to drive for the Scuderia in the future.
