A red helmet automatically brings back memories of a certain seven-time world champion. So when it’s in a grey Mercedes, which will be the color of Mercedes this season, it’s probably a bit too much for Schumacher fans. To avoid causing any inconvenience, the new Mercedes driver, George Russell, has decided to change the color of his helmet to make the red less prominent.
« I have always wanted to put as much red as possible on my helmet. But having a red helmet in a Mercedes was really reminiscent of Michael Schumacher, and I wanted to respect that. That’s why I have a lot more black and a little bit of red on the top and sides. There is also this blue line on the side that I really like. »
The Mercedes will be unveiled on Friday, February 18th and will hit the track at Silverstone right after.
