Haas now races without the Russian colors or its sponsor Uralkali
Due to the global crisis triggered by Russia's attack on Ukraine on Thursday morning, things are moving rapidly, and the same goes for the paddock. Russian colors are no longer present on Haas. Uralkali is also absent.
Haas is an American company and is supported by Uralkali to specifically drive Nikita Mazepin, the son of the founder of the Russian sponsor. If this Thursday morning, the situation has changed internationally, the consequences are also being felt in Formula 1.
Haas made the decision on the same day to remove the Russian colors from its trucks and car. The Uralkali logos are also being removed. Haas has not yet communicated any information about the removal of Uralkali, which still appears on the team’s website.
Is sponsorship still in effect? Can Haas afford to lose this major sponsor? Will Mazepin be able to continue racing for Haas?
A lot of questions even though the season hasn’t even started yet. This reminds Haas of a bad episode from early 2019 where the team lost its title sponsor, Rich Energy, entangled in controversy. [Link: Haas in 2019 already had sponsorship problems]
