Red Bull rolled out today in Monza for tests with Pirelli
Pirelli completes its Formula 1 tire compound testing for the coming season. In the final stage of the original schedule, it was with Red Bull that the manufacturer conducted its tests on Tuesday.
The Italian Grand Prix took place in Monza this weekend, but not all teams went straight back home. Red Bull was engaged this Tuesday for additional testing with Pirelli, the Formula 1’s tire manufacturer and the sole supplier since 2011.
This Tuesday, September 13th was indeed the last date for testing the tires in the 2023 version. Pirelli tries to modify the compound of its tires (C1 to C5) each season in order to approach the desired performance by the teams. The goal is to provide a tire that offers significant yet consistent performance differences.
Red Bull had already contributed to a test day in Austria on July 12, right after the Austrian Grand Prix. They are therefore the last team to test the 2023 compounds before a post-season testing session in Abu Dhabi, right after the last F1 Grand Prix of 2022.
Haas is the only team to have been exempted from testing in 2022 with Pirelli due to budgetary reasons.
Pirelli has confirmed to us that Sergio Perez took the wheel of the Red Bull today.
