The FIA finally postpones the publication of the 2021 budget cap compliance
The FIA was supposed to convene the arbitration commission on the enforcement of budget caps this Wednesday, October 5, in order to issue certificates of compliance or non-compliance to the teams regarding their 2021 budgets. The publication is ultimately postponed to Monday, October 10.
In a press release, the FIA explained that the publication of the 2021 financial analysis findings will not take place on Wednesday, October 5th. This is because the arbitration committee was supposed to meet on this Wednesday, and the media was expecting to officially have the final say regarding any possible budget exceeding by several teams in 2021, and the possible sanctions.
The FIA justifies itself by the fact that « the analysis of financial submissions is a long and complex process, currently ongoing and will be concluded to allow the publication of each 2021 budget certificate on Monday, October 10th. »
It is therefore highly likely that even though the commission met, no certificate could have been generated in case of indecision regarding the sanctions to be assigned. Another unofficial reason could be that the teams may want to justify or prepare press releases before the FIA officially announces the results.
In the same statement, the FIA denies the rumors that certain employees may have leaked information regarding potential budget overruns by certain teams.
« As mentioned previously, there have been speculations and unsubstantiated statements about this matter, and the FIA reiterates that no further information will be provided until it is finalized internally. The FIA also reiterates that any information stating that FIA staff has disclosed sensitive information is also groundless. »
