Pirelli carried out a testing day to optimize its tires for the 2023 season. The 10 F1 teams were present today in Abu Dhabi to test the soft tires. Numerous laps were completed, as a total of 2500 laps were covered today, averaging over 100 laps per driver.

These data are very important to Pirelli, who will optimize their tires in order to offer a soft compound that meets the teams’ expectations in 2023.
There are 5 compounds offered by Pirelli each season. Two soft compounds, one medium, and two harder compounds. Today in Abu Dhabi, the two softest tires have been tested, apparently, although we don’t know the exact details.
6 additional sessions scheduled later in the year will allow testing of hard, medium, and even wet weather tires (intermediate and rain tires).
These closed-door trials will be carried out with a single team mobilized with a 2022 version F1 car, except for the last session on February 7th and 8th, 2023, where Mercedes and Aston Martin will be involved.
The next testing session with the 10 F1 teams will take place from February 23rd to 25th, 2023 in Bahrain.
