Mattia Binotto resigns from Ferrari

It is therefore official, Mattia Binotto has tendered his resignation from Scuderia Ferrari, announces Scuderia Ferrari in a press release. Ferrari has accepted Mattia Binotto’s resignation, as explained in the press release. The Swiss-Italian director of Scuderia Ferrari took his position in January 2019, replacing Maurizio Arrivabene.

Benedetto Vigna, the director of Ferrari, thanked Mattia Binotto: “I would like to thank Mattia for his great contributions to the team during his 28 years with us and especially for bringing the team back to a competitive position. Thanks to him, we are close to fighting for titles, which Ferrari fans around the world are eagerly awaiting. We wish Mattia all the best for his future.”

Mattia Binotto did not meet the expected goals at Scuderia Ferrari, but beyond performance issues, it is the various mishaps related to strategies and poor pit stops this season that have exposed the weaknesses of the Italian team. In recent months, relationships are said to have deteriorated, especially between Charles Leclerc and Mattia Binotto, following an altercation in the pitlane at the British Grand Prix this year.

No substitute

Ferrari has not yet announced a replacement. The statement specifies that an announcement will be made at the beginning of 2023.

The rumors suggest a potential replacement by Frédéric Vasseur, the current team principal of Sauber, Alfa Romeo Racing.
