McLaren is the 6th team to unveil its 2023 race car. The papaya orange and sky blue colors are prominently featured. However, carbon fiber is even more prominent than last season, with the goal of reducing weight.
The presentation was simple but for once recalling the old presentations. In addition to two presenters, we were able to see a video reminding us of the creation of McLaren by Bruce McLaren 60 years ago, since the MCL60 bears his name as a tribute to the 60th anniversary of McLaren’s creation.
The covered single-seater then revealed itself in front of the two drivers Norris and Piastri.
On the aerodynamics side, a major evolution is noted in the pontoon area. Much more aggressive, the air intakes of the pontoon take inspiration from Red Bull, especially by being very sculpted but also present a truly innovative design never seen before. Since the Mercedes engine doesn’t require a lot of cooling, it can be seen that the air intake is really small. However, unlike Mercedes which has a vertical air intake, McLaren continues to maintain horizontal air intakes.
