Netflix unveils the trailer featuring Max Verstappen, just days before season 5
Netflix has finished preparing Season 5 of Drive To Survive, or Pilotes de leur destin in French. This year, Max Verstappen has finally agreed to be included in the Netflix series and will therefore be part of the show. Launch scheduled for February 24th.
Netflix unveils the latest trailer for “Pilote de leur destin” (Driver of their destiny), the hit series that allows Formula 1 to reach a new generation of viewers.
Season 5, which depicts the 2022 Formula 1 season in half a dozen 30-minute episodes, will be available for streaming starting Friday, February 24th.
Max Verstappen had previously refused to participate in Drive To Survive, considering the series to be too sensationalist and not representing his image or Formula 1 in a favorable light. However, after winning the title in 2022 against Ferrari, both Red Bull and Verstappen have finally agreed to take part in Season 5 and be featured in the footage.
On each Formula 1 Grand Prix, Netflix teams are sent either around certain specific drivers or to capture exclusive footage. Netflix’s contract with Formula 1 was negotiated in 2017 when Liberty Media became the new owner and aimed to diversify its audience and regain growth.
