The halo is a safety device designed to protect the driver in the event of a rollover or in case of impact with a barrier or a lifting device as was unfortunately the case for Jules Bianchi in Japan in 2014.

Being a safety feature, teams are not allowed to modify it and add aerodynamic elements above it, unless it is a part connected to the bodywork. This is where Ferrari came up with a clever and never-before-seen idea in Bahrain. A miniature airplane-like tail fin connected to the engine cover by an arc.

This mini spoiler may not necessarily be used on the track for the Grand Prix next week.

This winglet is used to generate an effect to properly redirect the disrupted air caused by the cockpit and the halo. It is particularly used to generate downforce in particular.
