Max Verstappen overtakes Vettel at Red Bull
Max Verstappen wins his fourth victory of the year 2023 and his 39th victory for Red Bull, surpassing Sebastian Vettel's record in terms of wins for the Austrian team.
Max Verstappen wrote a new chapter in the history of Red Bull and F1 this Sunday. He clinched his 39th victory, a record for the Austrian team.
Vettel is ahead of the Dutchman in terms of championships won, but Max Verstappen, at 25 years old, has plenty of time ahead of him to equal or even surpass this record. Especially since a third title is likely on its way for this 2023 season.
Verstappen has a 39-point lead over his teammate Sergio Perez after winning four out of six races. But there are still 16 races left to compete in, so there are still plenty of points to be won.
“If you have a good car for a certain time, you can beat this kind of figures,” said Verstappen when reminded of Vettel’s record.
I never thought I would be in this position in my career. When I was growing up, I wanted to be a Formula 1 driver and win races, it’s truly incredible.
To achieve the 38 victories at Red Bull, Vettel stayed with the Austrian team for 6 seasons and won 4 titles. Verstappen, on the other hand, is starting his 7th full season at Red Bull.
Verstappen’s victory on Sunday was his second in three years on the streets of Monaco and the third consecutive one for Red Bull.
