Marko continues to put pressure on Nyck de Vries after his performance in Monaco

The Dutch driver managed to finish ahead of his teammate Yuki Tsunoda and, more importantly, to keep his car intact throughout the entire weekend in Monaco, in a particularly challenging context with rain occurring during the race.

Marko continues to put pressure on Nyck de Vries after his performance in Monaco

Qualified 12th on the streets of Monaco, the Dutchman missed out by less than a tenth of a second to make it into Q3 and be part of the Top 10 in Monaco. Helmut Marko was satisfied with Nyck de Vries’ performance and, after giving him a yellow card, acknowledges the AlphaTauri driver’s performance.

One of the faces of Red Bull recently showed signs of impatience towards Nyck de Vries, after a difficult start to his Formula 1 debut. Since Bahrain, the Dutchman has been involved in numerous accidents and has not been able to compete with his teammate Yuki Tsunoda, but in Monaco, he managed to finish the weekend without incident and secure a solid 12th place.

Marko congratulates his driver and ensures that it is his “best weekend” for the team, as he managed to beat Tsunoda, who suffered from brake issues during the race, causing him to drop in the standings.

“It was by far his best weekend for AlphaTauri,” said Marko about Nyck de Vries. “Nyck was much closer to Yuki than before. That’s what I expect from him.”

« Yuki was also very good until the brake issues resurfaced. It is something that needs to be resolved by the team, as they often have brake problems. »

Despite a comeback in the principality, De Vries hasn’t really managed to rival Tsunoda yet. The Japanese driver is having a very solid start to the season as the leader at AlphaTauri.

De Vries hasn’t scored any points in 2023 yet, but his performance in Monaco could be an important step in keeping his place until the end of the season.
