Red Bull breaks the 35-year-old record for consecutive wins in F1

Since 1988, no team had managed to beat McLaren, holder of the record for the most consecutive wins in a season. After [having equalled it in Great Britain two weeks ago](/f1/actualite/31028-red-bull-egale-record-vieux-35-ans-grace-11eme-victoire-rang.html), Red Bull now holds this record alone. The Austrian team has just won its 12th consecutive race.

During the 1988 Formula 1 season, the English team McLaren won 11 consecutive victories with 4 wins for Alain Prost and 7 wins for Ayrton Senna. For the past 34 years, no one has been able to beat this record, despite the increasing number of Grand Prix races in a season.

Red Bull has won every Formula 1 race that has taken place since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2022, which occurred on November 20th last year. By winning the first 11 races of 2023 with its two drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, Red Bull now takes the lead alone in this ranking of consecutive victories (spanning across multiple seasons).

Note that Max Verstappen has won 9 races this season, compared to just 2 wins for his teammate Sergio Perez.

If Max Verstappen continues to win races this season, he will be able to break another record, that of the number of consecutive wins by a driver, currently held by Sebastian Vettel, also with Red Bull, with 9. Verstappen is now at 7 with this victory in Hungary.

It should be noted that Max Verstappen already holds the record for the number of wins in a season, which he broke last season and could also break this season. He already has 9 wins out of 11 races. There are still 11 races remaining and 7 wins to be obtained for the Dutch driver.
