“I am the 16th Formula 1 champion for Ferrari,” Felipe Massa doesn’t lose hope
The Brazilian, at the center of a dispute, loudly claims that he is the champion of the world in 2008. Following the conflict with F1, he was even asked not to attend the Italian Grand Prix, despite being invited.
A story that is not likely to end anytime soon. Felipe Massa has decided to take legal action after Bernie Ecclestone explained that he was aware that Renault was involved in the infamous Crashgate. This intentional accident by Nelson Piquet Jr allowed Fernando Alonso to win in Singapore. On the other hand, Felipe Massa lost significant points in 2008 that could have made him champion.
« I have confidence and I truly believe that for justice, we will show that what happened is not fair. I am the champion. I know I have this title. I am the 16th Formula 1 champion for Ferrari. I lost my peace of mind because I knew I had been robbed », said the former driver to our colleagues at Associated Press.
The battle between the Brazilian and F1 doesn’t stop there. Last weekend, he was supposed to be present at Monza, for the Italian Grand Prix. But the officials of the sport begged him not to come. « But that doesn’t change anything in our fight. Today’s F1 is different from the one in the past, and the FIA is different today from the one in the past. I truly hope they will understand that what happened is not fair and that they will resolve the matter. »
Evidently, the former Ferrari driver is not ready to give up and wants to obtain compensation.
