What conditions need to be met for Max Verstappen to become a triple world champion?
There is no longer any doubt, Max Verstappen is going to win - unless a catastrophe occurs - a third world championship title. With eight races remaining, the deadline will come quickly.
Eight races and three sprints. The calculation is simple. Eight times 26 plus 24, that gives us 232 points left to distribute this season. Max Verstappen, on his part, has a 145-point lead over his closest championship rival, Sergio Perez.
With such a gap between the two teammates at Red Bull, there are no more doubts. The Dutchman should win a third consecutive title. It may be too early in Singapore, but he shouldn’t have to wait much longer to be crowned.
In the event that Max Verstappen were to win all the races with the fastest lap point as well as the sprint races, Jos’ son could be crowned champion as early as the race in Qatar. Indeed, with all these victories and if Sergio Perez consistently finishes second, there would be a 171-point gap between them with 146 points still to be distributed.

What if Sergio Perez doesn’t score any points?
If something unfortunate were to happen to the Mexican driver and Max Verstappen maintained his dominance, then we would need to look behind. Fernando Alonso, in third place, is trailing the Dutchman by 196 points. To delay the inevitable, one or both drivers would need to finish ahead of the Red Bull driver.
But the Spanish driver is not likely to be a big threat. If Max Verstappen finishes first with the fastest lap and Fernando Alonso is second, he will almost be eliminated from the title race in Singapore. There will only be 206 points left to distribute and the gap with the championship leader will be 202 units.
