AlphaTauri will use ultra-thin advertising screens on its F1 car in 2024
AlphaTauri has signed a partnership with Seamless Digital to integrate ultra-thin and lightweight screens into the carbon body of the race car, allowing for the broadcasting of advertising visuals or messages during Formula 1 sessions starting in 2024.
AlphaTauri has just announced that they have tested the integration of ultra-thin screens on their race car in order to display different messages or visuals depending on the session or moment of the Grand Prix. Since the spaces on the race cars are highly contested, this will allow multiple sponsors to be displayed in the same place, for example, or to provide information such as the alternating display of the driver’s name and number.
The integration tests will continue in 2023 before being used in Grand Prix for the 2024 season. McLaren had already tested this kind of system on its car earlier this season, and just like AlphaTauri, the screens were located very close to the cockpit and not on the engine cover, for example, where the messages would be most visible. The wings are also not affected.
These screens currently appear limited in terms of colorimetry to only a solid background and a writing or visual color.
