In convalescence, Daniel Ricciardo is still present in Singapore
If Daniel Ricciardo is present this week in Singapore and in AlphaTauri gear, it will only be to help his team and his replacement driver, Liam Lawson. Indeed, Daniel Ricciardo is still recovering and AlphaTauri has confirmed that he will give up his seat for another week.
A few weeks ago, at Zandvoort, Daniel Ricciardo, unable to avoid the McLaren stopped on his trajectory, collided with the wall at the edge of the track, right in the banking turn of the Dutch circuit. Unfortunately for the AlphaTauri driver, the little time he had to react forced him to keep his hand on the steering wheel at the moment of impact, causing a metacarpal fracture.
Absent since, he has been replaced by Liam Lawson, the only Red Bull driver available immediately despite his participation in single-seaters in Japan.
Helmut Marko had stated after the operation undergone by Daniel Ricciardo that the Singapore and Japan Grand Prix would probably be forgettable for Daniel Ricciardo. This is indeed confirmed since AlphaTauri stated that Liam Lawson will continue to replace Ricciardo this weekend in Singapore.
However, the Australian driver, who is still recovering, is indeed present in Singapore. Unavailable for interviews, he will be there primarily to assist the team and provide his feedback, along with Yuki Tsunoda’s, on the second AlphaTauri car, as well as that of Liam Lawson, his replacement.
