There are still three vacant seats available in F1 for 2024

The next season is already well underway in terms of driver line-up confirmation. We already know that Mercedes, Alpine, McLaren, Alfa Romeo, Haas, Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Red Bull all have contracts with their drivers until at least 2024.

Thus, currently only three drivers have not yet had their contracts extended for 2024, in two different teams.

2 seats available at AlphaTauri

AlphaTauri made a lot of noise during the season by replacing Nyck de Vries with Daniel Ricciardo. Red Bull’s sister team is accustomed to driver changes during the season and did not offer Ricciardo a contract beyond 2023.

Similarly, Yuki Tsunoda, who is part of the team for the third season, could be experiencing his last year with AlphaTauri. The Japanese driver does not have a contract beyond 2023, and AlphaTauri has a habit of not keeping a driver for more than three years.

Therefore, we do not yet know the contenders for the starting position next year at AlphaTauri. Liam Lawson, who is currently replacing Daniel Ricciardo for several races after breaking his hand in the Netherlands, could be among the promoted.

On the Red Bull side of the Formula 2 program, several drivers have the potential to prove themselves in F1 in the coming years, but no one seems quite ready for promotion in 2024. Isack Hadjar is still too inconsistent, and although he is one of Helmut Marko’s favorites, he needs more time. Ayumu Iwasa, on the other hand, is mentioned as a potential favorite for moving up to F1. However, he currently only holds third place in the F2 standings, so he may also need some more experience.

1 seat at Williams

Alexander Albon has been confirmed at Williams for 2024. As the most experienced driver in the Woking line-up, he does not yet know the name of his teammate. Indeed, Logan Sargeant has not yet received confirmation for 2024, and the American could be experiencing his last season in F1.

This is Sargeant’s first season in F1 and the American driver is not ridiculous compared to the talents of Alexander Albon, but he still seems to lack performance. However, with three Grand Prix races in the United States in 2024 and an American investor, Dorilton Capital, at Williams, he still has a chance to continue in 2024.
