“No door is closed,” Alfa Romeo is working to make sure Théo Pourchaire arrives in F1

He will have to wait some more. This year, many were hoping to see Théo Pourchaire arrive in Formula 1. With uncertainties surrounding the extension of Guanyu Zhou, his fans really believed it. But, this Thursday, Alfa Romeo announced that next year, the team will continue with the same drivers.

French: Le Français restera donc pilote de réserve de l’équipe italo-suisse. Mais Alfa Romeo indique que son avenir devrait quand même s’écrire au sein de l’entité d’Hinwil.

English: The Frenchman will therefore remain as a reserve driver for the Italo-Swiss team. But Alfa Romeo indicates that his future should still be within the Hinwil entity.

English: We are ready to find an agreement. We are discussing together to establish what will be the best racing program for him so that he is ready to jump into F1. No door is closed for him in the future, indicated Alessandro Alunni Bravi, the team representative.

Two practice sessions in free practice this year

The team is also considering the possibilities for French to try out an old race car, equipment that Alfa Romeo does not yet have. « We are discussing this internally. Of course, from a budget point of view, it is quite expensive for a team, but we want to explore all opportunities, and for a driver like him, the doors are open. We just need to determine the best program to be prepared. »

Alessandro Alunni Bravi confirms, however, that Théo Pourchaire will take the wheel of the Alfa Romeo this year. As a rookie driver, the team is obligated to let him drive during two free practice sessions. « We are currently evaluating the best options. As you know, the second part of the season is always marked by weekends with a sprint format or new circuits such as those in Qatar and Las Vegas. Therefore, we will decide on the best program for him in the coming weeks. »
