With a third title in the process of being acquired and a newly gained record of 11 consecutive wins in a season, Max Verstappen is no longer accustomed to exiting qualifying with a fight in the top 10. The Red Bull driver reacted strongly on his radio during his cooldown lap to return to the pit.
« I don’t know if you saw it, but it was a **** bad experience,” exclaimed Verstappen, referring to his lap and the understeer he particularly experienced.
In an interview with Canal+, the Dutch driver said: “« I think it was very bad in qualifying. The Free Practice 3 was quite good, but we made some adjustments after FP3 and went too far. It’s a street circuit with heavy braking, and I couldn’t attack on the brakes without locking up the wheels.”
Max Verstappen is no longer accustomed to poor performances and his frustration could be seen behind his helmet. He even got out of his car, which was still being retrieved by the mechanics.
