New exhausts and gearboxes, 7 drivers concerned in Doha

Documents published by the FIA this Friday announce the usage for 7 different drivers of new parts, among those available in their quota.

This year, the drivers can have 4 different gearboxes mounted. McLaren drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, as well as AlphaTauri drivers, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda are concerned with the mounting of a new gearbox. A 4th on their quota. This means that for the remaining races, these drivers will no longer be able to use a new gearbox and will have to draw from the parts already used.

On the side of Yuki Tsunoda, the International Automobile Federation also announced the replacement of his exhaust system. This is the 6th one fitted on the AlphaTauri. This is also the case for Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz who adds a 6th exhaust to his list of already used exhausts.

The drivers can use up to 8 different exhaust systems in their quota in 2023 before being penalized. The Alpine drivers, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, on their side, have mounted a 7th exhaust. Therefore, they only have one joker left to finish the season.
